This sport weight yarn from New Leaf Yarns is an interesting blend of British Alpaca with Shetland wool, alpaca soft with some added strength and bounce from the Shetland. The darker steely grey shade was produced with a batch of alpaca fleece from Idris and Jack who live on an organic small holding in Aberdeenshire and the gorgeous Juliet who lives in Lanarkshire in Scotland. The Fawn, Fudge and Moorit blends have been created by combining honey and caramel fleeces from alpacas called Isla, Storm and Bambi from Aberdeenshire, and Mike from Perthshire. The Bay Black is a combination of fleece from alpacas called Darroch and Darcy from Lanarkshire. The Fawn is then 40% white Shetland; the Moorit is 40% Moorit Shetland; and, the Bay Black is 40% Black Shetland. Fudge is a mixture of the alpaca fleeces with white Shetland to produce a flecked, heathery yarn.
Whether you are using this wool for colourwork, a cardigan, blanket, shawl or hat, this yarn is sure to wear well. The warm and gentle colours are gorgeous on their own or in combination, or could provide the base for colour work projects.
