A beautifully worsted spun Gotland wool in a DK weight has hit the shelves of GTS! The natural light grey shade of this wool is simply stunning. This wool is made from Low Auldgirth’s well-tended and beloved flock of woolly sheep who graze happily on wildflower pastures throughout the year as part of a regenerative farming practice. The Gotland wool is grown on the farm, shorn on farm, and processed in the UK. They are very conscious about keeping their carbon footprint as low as possible.
Gotland sheep are a Scandinavian breed first brought to the UK in the 1970’s they are prized for their silvery, lustrous curls and their wool is notoriously pleasant to work with.

Once a part of a larger estate, the farm built in the 1800’s has had many uses in the past, from a deer park, to turkey farm and finally dairy. It was abandoned in the mid 70’s and left to fall into a nature filled state of disrepair. Ruth and her husband took the place over in 2015, and since have been restoring the farmhouse and outbuildings to their former glory, whilst maintaining the nature friendly environment we inherited.
