WEE COUNTY YARNS

KINROSS 4PLY :: SUPERFINE LAMBSWOOL

£9.50

We are incredibly proud to be stocking this gorgeous yarn which is made less than an hour away. Kinross 4ply is a fingering weight 100% lambswool from certified non-mulesed flocks that knits up with a soft, cosy handle. This yarn is spun  by Todd and Duncan, a firm that has been making high-quality yarns for 150 years. Until 1950 they were based in Alva, in the Wee County, which used to be filled with textile mills. They are now based on the shores of Loch Leven at Kinross, making cashmere and lambswool yarns for big name fashion labels.

The yarn is hanked directly from the cone without being scoured. This means that once it is knitted it needs to be washed which causes a little bit of magic to happen. It blooms and softens beautifully and feels almost like cashmere.
The yarn has a lovely, rounded texture and excellent stitch definition making it perfect for colourwork, lace or cables. Todd & Duncan have invested heavily in their quality control systems which means the yarn has a consistency that gives the finished garment a real feeling of quality.
The range includes an impressive 24 shades to choose from with naturals and muted shades as well as rich, saturated shades, all reflecting the natural beauty of the Scottish landscape.
