    Making Stories

    BREEZE

    £30.00

BREEZE is the second book in Making Stories' European Nature series which combines ethically and environmentally-friendly made yarns with modern, minimalist knitwear designs. All yarns used in our European Nature series are sourced and processed in Europe.

BREEZE includes 11 knitwear patterns ranging from socks to summery tops as well as sweaters and cardigans perfect for layering in the warmer seasons. All designs take you from morning to night during a beautiful breezy summer day.

BREEZE showcases the yarn makers and designers involved in the creation of these patterns through profiles accompanying each design. Three articles - the story of new linen brand Lino Mūka, Ani Lee's (CloseKnit) #MyMakingStories and their story of shooting a summer collection in the middle of winter - round out this second print publication.

This issue was shot this March in Lisbon, Portugal. Jonna and Sini spent a couple of warm, sunny days there together with our art director Päivi and our model Virpi, of whom you can learn more about through her blog. During the shoot they stayed at the gorgeous apartment hotel The Lisboans, which we cannot recommend highly enough!

In addition to 10 stunningly beautiful knitting patterns, this issue includes recipes and a travel guide as well as some interesting interviews. To mention a few, Jonna had a chat with one of our heroes Rosa Pomar, a yarn shop owner and a champion of Portuguese yarn. The magazine also features a portrait of another one of our idols, Ysolda Teague, the Scottish knitwear designer and entrepreneur, who we met during the Edinburgh Yarn Festival.

An accessories pattern collection by Clare Devine.

The Neighbo(u)rhood Sheep Society celebrated local yarn from small scale producers in the UK. Over the course of six months we created a bespoke yarn and pattern club to celebrate the “Best of British”. It was a wonderful experience and we enjoyed sharing our love of locally produced yarns with knitters.

While these designs were originally created for Neighbo(u)rhood Sheep Society yarns and exclusive to club members, we wanted to make sure other knitters could enjoy them too. To make them more accessible, we have reworked them in yarns readily available from Ginger’s Hand Dyed, an independent yarn company based in Edinburgh.

Each design has been carefully crafted by Clare to work beautifully with the exquisite yarn produced by Jess, showcasing the incredible range of colours available. You can find out more about Jess and Clare at the end of this booklet.
