A cosy gansey, with seamless construction, saddle-shoulder shaping, twisted-stitch cables, and a detachable cowl-collar, inspired by the maritime heritage of the Port o’ Leith.

12 page pattern booklet includes two patterns for gansey and collar, full charts, photographic look book, detailed schematic and sizing table, and a short essay exploring Leith’s historic connections with the Scottish wool trade.

Materials
For gansey: 720 (760, 820, 880, 940, 1000) yards or 658 (695, 750, 805, 860, 915) metres of Bulky weight wool
For collar: 250 yards / 137 metres of Bulky weight wool
5mm needles (or size to get gauge) in following lengths:
60 (or 80) cm for working body; 80 (or 100) cm for working yoke and sleeves (you can use dpns if preferred)
4.5mm needles (or size below your gauge-size) in the following lengths:
60 (or 80) cm for working rib on body
80 (or 100) cm for working rib on sleeves (or dpns if preferred).
Stitch markers of 2 types (A and B); waste yarn for provisional cast on (collar) and holding sts (gansey) ; tapestry needle; cable needle (if required).

Gansey: 36 (39, 42, 45, 48, 51) ins
91 (99, 107, 114, 122, 130) cms
Collar: 29 ins / 74cms circumference

Shown in the first size, modelled with 4 ins positive ease. Garment can be worn with positive ease, as shown, or with zero / negative ease if a more fitted look is preferred. Pattern includes detailed sizing and modification instructions to allow you to achieve the fit that’s best for you.
