Join our teacher Vala in person for an afternoon of crochet, chats, tea & cake on Saturday 8 November 2025 at 1pm - 4pm.
Crochet is an addictive, rewarding and mindful craft that will keep you happy for years to come! This workshop is suitable for beginners or as a refresher if you’ve crocheted before. In this session we will cover the crochet basics:
- Explore and experiment with different ways to hold your hook and yarn
- Learn to make crochet chains
- Learn and practice two basic stitches you’ll need to begin your crochet journey
- Begin making a granny square
- We will consider the importance of tension and using different weights of yarn
The humble granny square can enhance any blanket with beautiful colour and texture, as well as a plethora of other makes. Learning to make a granny square can provide an essential construct of beginner’s crochet. Remember that in crochet it’s easy to take your work back and start again – relax.
The workshops are 4 people maximum, so book along with a pal if you fancy!
Materials included in your kit:
- 5.0mm crochet hook
- 6 balls of Aran weight 100% wool (3 contrasting shades)
- darning needle
Skills required: None! Total beginners welcome. Refreshers too, if you are feeling a wee bit rusty and want to get started again.

Whichever kit you choose will be waiting for you at the workshop, and it is everything you need.
The workshop will be held at an adorable cafe and wine bar around the corner from the shop called The Tailor. A cuppa and bit of cake is included with the workshop. There are a couple of steps up to the back room and tile
