Spun from an extraordinary blend of Mongolian yak down and fine merino fleece, Fonty MONGOLIA 5 is an exceptionally soft, warm, and conscious Aran weight yarn.
The rare yak down in this blend originates exclusively from the Khangai Mountains Breeders Cooperative—an eco-responsible, fair-trade initiative established by Fonty alongside Agronomists and Veterinarians Without Borders (AVSF). Gently hand-combed each spring by Mongolian herders, only a fraction—under 100 grams of down per animal each year—is harvested to create this precious fibre.
Because the natural unbleached merino takes up dye vividly while the deep grey and brown yak down remains nearly untouched, each skein takes on a breath taking mottled heather effect.
