Recollection is a collection of knitting patterns inspired by those remnants of yarn from previous projects and those special souvenir skeins. These materials, with which we spend so much time when we knit, become impregnated with the memory of that project: the places we knit it, the person the finished object went to, the way we felt when we made it. Those things, feelings and memories are precious. This collection is designed to honour those memories, bringing them together in a conscious way to make a new knit incorporating those precious remnants.
I have named each of the designs after one of my own ancestors, from the Grandmother who helped raise me to the great aunts I never met. Like the projects from Recollection, I am made of the material and emotional memories of these women.
